January 27, 2018..Saturday, Well I've been trying to get a few positive ideas to post for the other side of eighty-five..and there are some positives, but when one lives in a residence for seniors, in this one especially, where there are many with health problems, it can be difficult... I for one have two friends here going through such hard times, but then they are in their nineties and have reached this ripe old age so that is a plus. BUT, do I want to live to see myself in their condition, well NO.
Anyway, to be sure to keep the mind active, and to enjoy life at any age, it's great to find new and exciting things to do. One is what I did unintentionally and that is burn two pieces of toast which caused the smoke alarm to send great horrible loud signals right through the buildings, causing the doors to lock down, as well as the elevators and have the nurses and preposees running in up to my apartment, and the fun of seeing two great big handsome firemen come here too.. WOW, I offered them wine, but apparently not when they are on duty HA... well that was fun, but not exactly what I meant to do..that can't happen again, it's happened before so must not burn toast or anything for that matter...keep my mind on what I"M DOING...Lessons to be learned here.
Have to keep reading especially fun books like the one I am reading these days for our book group at the library..Problems of Rich People... keep writing..i.e. this blog as well as read and write journals, read the news and keep up to date...try and paint (still not doing that.) Open my mind to try to understand technical things like, my computer. Join classes - I am in the History of Montreal, through the thomas More Institute..attend lectures ..at the Teapot...
Will also enjoy music, live folk type, tomorrow at Roxboro United where we will that is Harry my boyfriend if one at our age call ourselves boyfriend and girlfriend, will attend the service to see the old friends of ours in a group there sing They have been doing that for years and here they are at 85 and 88 still doing that..so I will sing in their sing along. Also will attend the symphony next Sunday with H. and that will keep us happy as well...also keep our minds off our own health problems, his is probably circulation and poor balance, mine is painful arthritis... where in my case I follow
an Exercise Regime...and hope to get a shot to alieviate the pain... The exercise is yoga 3 to 4 times a week and an arthitis exercise class led by a physio therapist...Harry just walks in stores and drives not exactly helpful I'm trying to get him to do the exercise for arthritis which he is doing.wih me the odd times.. He will also do painting if we ever get around to doing that.
So the other side of eighty five in our case is still pretty good...time to boogie to bed...g'nite.
